1ST MAY – 30TH OCTOBER
THE SONG COMPETITION ESPECIALLY FOR FEMALE SINGER/SONGWRITERS

Angelic Music is the UK’s first Record and Publishing Music label to specialise in female singer-songwriters is excited to announce a follow-up to the hugely successful songwriting competition ‘In Her Own Words’ that launched Angelic Music in 2006. The company was founded by Janis Haves, a working singer/songwriter herself with a mission to foster female talent. Angelic Music has been set up in response to the homogeneity of the pop industry, rather than searching out those who fit the build of a stereotypical pop princess. We believe in talent, passion and individuality rather than age or waist size and think audiences want great music and are less interested in image than the mainstream music industry claims.

Angelic has also set up a free artist ‘not for profit’ development, networking and support organisation called ‘Angels Out There’ that runs alongside the main label. Here female artists from across the UK, Europe, USA and even Australia make contact with each other and us for advice and support. If an artist has a question or needs advice on anything to do with music or the music industry, we’ll answer it or we find someone who can.

This brand new competition in 2008 has been launched by popular request over the last year following tremendous success of the event in 2006 which attracted entries from all over the world. The competition was won by unanimous vote by Rosie Oddie (daughter of the wildlife presenter Bill Oddie). As a result of winning the competition Rosie had a tremendous year, receiving nationwide press, signing with one of the countries top agencies ‘Primary Talent’. Playing the 02 festival in Hyde Park and a tour culminating at the Shepherd Bush Empire on December 23rd 2007 as support to ‘The Blockheads' on their 30th anniversary tour. She has recently signed with a London management company and is currently in talks with major labels across London.

The ‘In her Own Words’ competition is open to all female singer-songwriters with a minimum age of 15. Entries cost £15 per song and artists can enter as times as they wish.

By associating themselves with Angelic, singer-songwriters will become part of the ever-increasing network of music professionals already associated with the label. They will also be helping the industry to get one step closer to removing the constraints of the pop mould.

The closing date for entries is 30 October 2008.
